They are not Black in color ,,so I think it's not charcoal based .But they are Machine made and rolled over Bamboo so this makes them to emit CO2 .Scent is very mild not irritation in that .They smoke highly . Overall okay productAs it will trigger allergies . But care full it contains Bamboo and perfumes
